Health Benefit of Vitamin E

Researchers at Tufts University tested the effects of Vitamin E on the immune system of healthy older people in a four month study. Each of the 88 volunteers, 65 and older, received 60, 200, or 800 I.U. of vitamin E per day, or a placebo. These researchers discovered that as we age, immune cells become less efficient, and are less effective at warding off disease.

But the immune systems of those who received vitamin E supplements acted more like 40 year olds, than 65 or 70 year olds. Of all groups, those taking 200 I.U. of vitamin E received the biggest immune system boost; even bigger than the group taking 800 I.U. of vitamin E. These researchers suggest that 200 I.U. may be the optimal dose for immune-system benefits.

Watkins Catalog contain 200 I.U. of Vitamin E, along with Selenium, which, in combination with vitamin E, offers greater health benefits.
